It was a labor of love putting this video together for you “Cobb” my friend and forever “Surfer Brother”. Every time I watch the video I simply don’t want it to end. This world was a much better place with you in it. A more thoughtful, kinder gentleman I never knew. Until we meet again, “Let the good times Roll.”

“Have You Done this Hike Before?”

Falls Branch Falls Hike

In late July, we went on a hike in the Cherokee National Forest, near the Cherohala Skyway. This hike is known as Falls Branch Falls. According to All Trails, a hiking app, it is a 2.2 mile hike. However, we ended up doing closer to 2.8 miles. This trail is rated as moderate because the end of the trail is a more difficult than the somewhat flat ground.

The challenges would include trees that have fallen that you may need to climb over, some rocky terrain, along with some roots. The last part of the hike is downhill and more difficult because of the roots you will be going down with. After you reach the first small waterfall, there is a split boulder that you will go through. The rest of this hike is uphill and somewhat rocky. You will reach one smaller waterfall before reaching the main attraction. This is a nice place to just sit down and relax while listening to the water and streams. When coming back, beware, you will be doing a steady decline on the way there, and not realize until you are coming back. So, there is a slight incline coming back. It is not unbearable or bad, just something to be aware of!

So, we went when most people are out hiking, Saturday, and the summer. Although, we only saw 3 total people, which is actually a lot of people for this hike! The people all ask us, “Have you done this hike before?”, and then continued to give us pointers and what to look out for! So, everyone we saw was super nice and courteous, which is hard to find any more on hikes, especially crowded ones!

It felt good to get away from all the main attractions and try something a little different in Monroe County. So, overall, we would rate this hike an 8.5/10! The only reason it lost a point and a half is because of how many trees were down and not being maintained. The reward and waterfalls make this hike so worth it.
